The ITACET Foundation and the Argentinian Association of Tunnels and Underground Space (AATES) have worked together for many years now, hosting training sessions during the annual “Tunnelling and Underground Space Days”.
This year’s training session took place during the 9th “Tunnelling and Underground Space Day” and was focused on ‘Tunnelling 4.0: new technologies & automation’. Some 140 participants attended.
The aim of the session was to highlight some of the most advanced aspects of digital technology applications in the design and construction of underground facilities. The programme was split into two main parts: the first took a look at Building Information Modelling (BIM) for underground applications, whilst the second focused on automation perspectives in the design and construction of underground works.
The session gathered together top leaders in the field, such as Piergiorgio Grasso, Dr Jurij Karlovsek (animateur of the ITA's WG22 on Information Modelling in Tunnelling) and Vincenza Floria, as well as Ramon de la Torre and Carlos Lang from Robbins, and Sandino Leao from Sandvik.
Many thanks to the local organizers and to all our lecturers, who made the event a great success!
