After a first event on "Underground Space Use" organised by the ITACET Foundation and the Tunnelling Association of Nigeria in 2018, a follow up seminar on "The Main Tunnelling Processes" was held on 16th October 2019, in Abuja.  A total of 35 participants coming mostly from Ministry Parastatals attended and were treated to lectures by Piergiorgio Grasso, Arnold Dix and Johann Brandl.

The seminar aimed to take a deeper look into the tunnelling processes with a presentation of some of the major issues related to design and construction aspects. The objective was to help project owners understand how to manage underground works projects and set up a suitable project organisation. The day ended with a lively round table on the subject of Project Management and Contractual Issues, chaired by Abidemi Agwor, President of the Nigeria Tunnelling Association (NTA). 

The session was held at the occasion of the 3rd International Tunnelling and Underground Space Conference & Exhibition in Nigeria, where the theme was “Developing Resilient Cities of the Future through the Integration of Tunnelling and Underground Space Use”.
