Biography: 

Nicolas ZIV is a civil engineer and urban planner, he is presently working on the development of Data Science algorithms for the improvement of TBM productivity (Tunnel Boring Machines) at the Tunnel Lab, the R&D department of Bouygues Travaux Publics, a contractor company based in France.

Nicolas carried out an industrial PhD in partnership between ESTP – Paris, a civil engineering school based in Paris and Egis, a Design and Consultancy Company specialized in urban infrastructures based in France. During his PhD, Nicolas developed a new method to manage complexity of construction projects based on Systems Engineering, Functional Analysis and Constructibility. This method has been applied on the development of a new concept of metro: the multifunctional metro which purpose is to answer to many city needs with a unique infrastructure: transport people, transport water and sewage, transport energy, transport goods, transport wastes and many more.

At Egis,  Nicolas has worked on different transport infrastructures in the design and planning phases: extension of metro Lyon B, Greater Paris metro line 16, the Madinah Metro Network or the future line E of the Lyon metro.
